About me
Ms. Veronica Mitchell currently serves as the Supervisor Cybersecurity Advisor for the Department of Homeland Security (DHS), Cybersecurity and Infrastructure Security Agency (CISA), Region 9. In this role, she oversees the CISA Region 9 cybersecurity efforts in Los Angeles, Orange, San Diego, Imperial, Riverside, and Ventura Counties, CA.
Prior to joining CISA, Ms. Mitchell served as the Director of Cybersecurity for Chedraui USA (Smart & Final, El Super, Fiesta Mart). She spearheaded the Cybersecurity Program at the City of Santa Monica, where Ms. Mitchell established and maintained a robust security program. She also spent seven years of her career supporting the cybersecurity team within the Department of Defense’s Office of Inspector General (DODIG), where she received an Employee of the Year Award in 2013. Ms. Mitchell also worked at Ally Bank in its infancy stage of developing its own IT Audit Services group upon spinning off from GM. Prior to joining GMAC organization, she was employed as a cybersecurity professional at DTE Energy. Ms. Mitchell was also a former Adjunct Professor at Walsh College.
Ms. Mitchell brings to her current position over 20 years of combined IT, Cybersecurity, and Supervisor experience. She holds an Information Assurance (Cybersecurity) Master Degree from Walsh College, and a Business Administration Degree in Management Information Systems from Wayne State University.
